The upcoming X-Men TV series adds another actor to its list of cast members. She has previous experience by starring in another superhero show.
Gotham star Jamie Chung will cross universes – from DC to the Marvel universe – and will appear in the X-Men series on the small screen. Chung will play the role of Clarice Fong, a.k.a. Blink.
She is the second actor to join the much-awaited series. Switched at Birth star Blair Redford was earlier confirmed to play Sam, the leader of an underground network of mutants, TV Guide noted.
The Blink role would keep Chung at Fox. She is currently playing another comic book character, Valerie Vale, on Batman’s prequel Gotham.
This is not the first time for Chung to work with Marvel and X-Men. In 2011, she voiced Aimi Yoshida in the video game X-Men: Destiny.
Chung appeared as Mulan on ABC’s Once Upon a Time and is set to portray a recurring role on the upcoming season of Casual in Hulu. She also appeared in Hangover Part II and voiced GoGo Tomago in Big Hero 6.
The untitled Marvel TV project revolves around an ordinary couple who finds out that their children possess mutant powers. The family is forced to go on the run. They will join an underground network of mutants and will learn to fight to survive.
X-Men film franchise director Bryan Singer will direct the pilot, which hails from 20th Century Fox TV and Marvel. This would be the second X-Men series to come out of the partnership between Fox and Marvel. Their first collaboration is FX’s Legion.
Burn Notice’s Matt Nix wrote the pilot and will also serve as executive producer alongside Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Simon Kinberg. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory also join the creative team.
Who is Blink in X-Men TV Series?
The character was first introduced in the X-Men comics Uncanny X-Men #317 in October 1994. In 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, Blink was portrayed by Chinese actress Fan Bingbing.
Clarice is described as sarcastic, high-spirited, and a bit of a tomboy. Her liveliness, however, has taken a hit after a sudden and traumatic experience in her life.
Blink boasts of her ability for teleportation. She can transport herself and others across time and space. The X-Men mutant can also teleport large masses such as sizable groups of people. She can also use her powers in a destructive manner by transporting only parts of objects or her enemies.
Blink has lilac skin, dark pink hair, pointed ears, and pupil-less green eyes. She was born with pink marks across her face.
