There is double good news for the fans of The X-Files. Not only is the Fox network going to air Season 11 of the show, its original characters Dana Scully and Fox Mulder could be also returning with a big bang.
International Business Times AU Edition reported that though the chances of the revival of The X-Files by the Fox Network are pretty high, Gillian Anderson who was seen in the role of Dana Scully, appeared to be somewhat skeptical about the show’s return.
Gillian Anderson Appears Uncertain About Show’s Revival
In November last year, the actress apparently told Reuters that her gut feeling says that the show “is finished.” It is interesting to note that Anderson will be appearing in two Hollywood movies namely Viceroy’s House and Crooked House. Both these movies are supposed to release in 2017.
But Gary Newman, FOX CEO, has positive news to share with the show’s fans. According to a report published in Variety, he said that The X-Files Season 11 will “get there.”
But, the CEO did say that that the timing of the show is yet to be finalized. Does that mean that the latest installment of the show will be back only by 2018? Will Anderson also join the cast for the new season once again?
Viewers of the show are aware that Season 10 ended with a major cliffhanger. Fans have been wondering since the finale of the last season if Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) could eventually survive or not. Did Scully avoid getting kidnapped by the alien spaceship? These are some of the questions that could be answered in the upcoming season.
But all said and done, the return of Anderson is extremely crucial. So, Fox may need to try their best to get the actress on board once again.
David Madden, the Fox president sounded quite optimistic about the revival of the show. He mentioned that “a lot of conversations are going on.”
