Punters are eager to cast their forecasts on the possible outcome of the WWE Royal Rumble 2017. With barely two weeks to go, anticipation is high for fans eager to see action on the pay-per-view match.
Alas, recent years of the WWE Royal Rumble has left fans wanting. So, would this year be different?
Odds for Stars at WWE Royal Rumble 2017
WWE Royal Rumble 2017 will feature five leading contenders along with 29 others who will compete for the title. Key players at this year’s event include John Cena, Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman, and Baron Corbin.
WWE Royal Rumble 2017 betting odds point to Braun Strowman as the favorite to win. The Bleacher Report even considers him as the favorite for WrestleMania 33.
The Undertaker is favored second despite being 51 years of age. Indeed, initial odds had him as the early favorite according to Odds Shark. Chris Jericho is another favorite this year. If he wins, then fans could look forward to his match with Kevin Owens at the main-event.
Meanwhile, odds are John Cena beats AJ Styles. Yet this could be a setback to the WWE programming, as fans seem hopeful to see Styles at WrestleMania 33.
WWE Royal Rumble 2017 a Potential Disappointment?
WWE Royal Rumble is one of the biggest events for the franchise. As the first official stop prior to WrestleMania 33, WWE Royal Rumble matches offer the ideal venue to highlight new talent.
However, Blake Oestriecher of Forbes feels WWE is not making the most of this opportunity. Hence, he foresees another potential letdown should the franchise opt to focus on its superstars rather than its up and coming talents.
“Unless WWE throws us a major curveball with a returning Finn Balor or a debuting Samoa Joe, it’s possible that the most entertaining aspect of the Royal Rumble, the popular “surprise entrant,” will be absent from the match altogether. And that would be a massive shame,” Oestriecher writes.
