The forthcoming Wrestlemania 33 could have a surprising outcome. Yet would fans welcome the idea of Roman Reigns as the face of WWE?
The Wrestlemania 33 matches teased to date promise a lot of action for eager fans. Earlier rumors hinted at matches between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns versus Braun Strowman, and the Undertaker against John Cena.
However, Vince McMahon appears to have other plans in mind. Evidently, he wants a showdown between Roman Reigns and the Undertaker to happen at Wrestlemania 33.
WWE Chief Gets What He Wants at Wrestlemania 33
Apparently, the WWE chief has thought about the match up between Roman Reigns and the Undertaker for some time. However, the opportunity for it never came up before, until now. To be more precise, this would be the last chance for him to set it up, according to Wrestlezone.
Meanwhile, a report from GiveMeSport noted that original plans for Wrestlemania 33 marked the Undertaker versus John Cena match. Alas, the change in plans would likely see Cena in a mixed tag team match instead. Earlier teasers talked about Reigns versus Goldberg or Braun Strowman.
The Undertaker is a favorite among wrestling fans. At 51, he still managed to best Bill Goldberg, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn, and The Miz at Royal Rumble 2017. However, it is only a matter of time before he bids WWE goodbye.
As it turns out, his Royal Rumble match reportedly left him hurting. Moreover, he is due for a complete hip replacement surgery.
So, it would seem McMahon has a bigger agenda in mind with the Roman Reigns versus the Undertaker card. Indeed, Wrestlemania 33 rumors suggest it might be the perfect setting for the Undertaker to pass on the torch to Reigns. Ultimately, the plan is to make Reigns the face of WWE.
Roman Reigns: the Future Face of WWE
It appears WWE hopes to boost the reputation of Roman Reigns among its fans. Perhaps, the goal is to elevate it to the level of John Cena and make him the league’s new golden boy.
Unfortunately, Reigns holds the distinction of being the wrestler whom fans love to hate. So, turning their opinion of him around might be an uphill battle.
Nonetheless, WWE appears ready for the challenge as it finalized plans for him to take on the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33. Time will tell where circumstances will lead Reigns.
