A more certain Westworld Season 2 update has come with regards to the release date of the second season.
HBO President Casey Bloys finally gave a more definite debut for the sci-fi/thriller show and it will be more than a year from now. “Here’s the good news: We’ve got Westworld coming back for 2018,” he told CinemaBlend.
In an earlier interview, Bloys said he thinks it will be sometime in 2018 since they still need to have to map the production and write the scripts for the second season. HBO renewed the show for 10 episodes like the previous one.
Who Will Return in Season 2
Co-creator Jonathan Nolan earlier refused to confirm if Ed Harris (the Man in Black) or Anthony Hopkins (Dr. Robert Ford) will be in season 2. In the finale of season 1, the Man in Black was revealed as the older William. He was last seen taking a bullet in the arm when Ford sets loose an army of hosts.
Harris has also offered another Westworld Season 2 update. The actor has confirmed in an interview with BBC Radio 4 that he will come back in season 2. He said, “I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night, who’s a creator of this thing with his wife Lisa Joy, and yeah, they’re doing another season. They’re going to do 10 more episodes, and I will be involved.”
As for Hopkins, the actor previously teased that his fate on the series is still up in the air. Nolan has also teased that Ford’s plan, which he had set in motion at season 1 finale, will be explored in the next season. Does it mean Ford is still alive and fans will see more of Hopkins next season? No one knows.
Luke Hemsworth (Ashley Stubbs) will also reprise his role as the head of Westworld security, who is in-charge of ensuring the safety of the guests. Fans are also expecting that Maeve (Thandie Newton) and other surviving hosts like Dolores will also return next season.
Meanwhile, Nolan had earlier hinted more Westworld Season 2 update. The showrunner teased if the first season was defined by control, the next one will be defined by chaos.
