Though Ragnar’s sons killed King Aelle in Vikings Season 4 Episode 18, viewers found a strange thing, The dead man’s body was not found where he was killed, Showrunner Michael Hirst teased whether Ragnar will return in the upcoming episodes or not.
Mystery behind Ragnar’s Missing Body
Episode 18 saw King Aelle being pulled behind the carriage of Ivar and was taken to the same spot where Ragnar’s life ended. But Ragnar’s body was not seen at the spot. The episode did not cover what happened to his body, giving rise to widespread speculations about the character’s fate.
According to International Business Times AU Edition, some viewers even feel that they have not seen the end of Ragnar yet. But there are others who believe that the character’s body has perhaps got decomposed.
A few theories even claim that thieves might have taken his body out of vengeance. It is also possible that his admirers have done the job to pay homage to him for the last time.
Hirst said, “You might interpret it as-He’s risen again from the dead.” Hirst added that they could have shown Ragnar’s decomposed body in a cave in Episode 18. But he did not say why then the episode did not cover this part.
The showrunner was also asked if there is a possibility of Ragnar’s return inthe future. Hirst revealed to Entertainment Weekly that it is “quite a lot of wishful thinking.” So, it is more or less obvious that Travis Fimmel may not be seen again in the series.
