Vikings actor Travis Fimmel will once again appear on History channel. Here’s what we know so far.
Travis Fimmel is set to have his return to History network. It will not be as Ivar the Boneless’ father but another historical figure, Wyatt Earp.
Vikings Actor Travis Fimmel New Series
The Vikings actor Travis Fimmel is back to business on History after Ragnar’s death on the popular scripted series, TV Fanatic reports. Though his days as Ragnar ended, his new project will still be touching on another historical person.
Deadline’s report details that the new series, which tackles “some of history’s infamous characters,” is still under development. A+E studios together with Atlas Entertainment and Imperative Entertainment will be its producers. The upcoming series also has “subsequent seasons” and will be dropping down stories about “iconic sinners and anti-heroes.”
According to the source, Wyatt’s story idea originally comes from Fimmel’s mind. Adding on, Fimmel will not just be a “star” in the new series.
The 37-year-old Australian actor will also be sitting behind the scenes as the show’s executive producer and writer. He wrote the first episode of History’s new series.
“I’ve always been fascinated with what motivates people’s transgressions and the scandalous journey into infamy.”
Moreover, Fimmel also revealed his desire to re-visit stories “without the rose-colored glasses of Hollywood.” The actor wanted the audience to decide whether these people like Wyatt Earp are sinners or just “victims of life circumstances.”
On a different note, when asked about Fimmel’s performance, Arturo Interian of History had only good things to say. According to the programming executive, the star is a “remarkable actor.”
He also noted Fimmel would give an “unconventional portrayal” of the American Old West gambler as he already did this to his character, Ragnar Lothbrok. Interian calls it a “fresh and unexpected approach.”
“We intend to capture the violent spirit of the great Sergio Leone films through telling the true story of criminal turned lawman.”
There has been no other news about the Fimmel’s new series as of writing. Stay tuned for new updates.
