What We Know So Far About The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Finale

The I Was Feeling Epic series finale episode could be the most epic one for the show indeed. Fans have known that Nina Dobrev will come back in the finale. The CW released a teaser that features her return.

TVD showrunner Julie Plec confirmed that there will be a major death at the end of the series. Entertainment Weekly also reported that Elena (Dobrev) will be attending the funeral of a loved one at the end. It is unclear though who attended the funeral with her and who hasn’t.

Hints point to either Stefan (Paul Wesley) or Bonnie (Kat Graham). Some fans believe Bonnie could die since her life ties with Elena’s. Moreover, Bonnie has nothing left to lose after the death of Enzo.

Stefan, on the other hand, might sacrifice himself for his brother so Damon (Ian Somerhalder) could live with Elena. Plec earlier teased that Damon might lose Stefan forever.

“Stefan’s never been good with temptation while in ripper mode. We know from past experience that Stefan has a threshold, and it’ll be Damon’s job to monitor his brother and make sure he stays on the good side of that threshold. If he crosses it, there’s a risk of losing him forever,” she told TV Line.

Finally, there were speculations that both the Salvatore brothers could die in the finale. This stemmed from Wesley’s earlier statement in which he said the perfect ending for the Salvatore brothers is for both of them to die, which Somerhalder concurred.

“I really think [Stefan] should take off his ring and die with Damon,” Wesley said.
