The Salvatore brothers and the rest of the gang are bidding their final goodbye at The Vampire Diaries finale on Friday night.

The cast and crew assured that the last episode of the CW hit series will definitely melt hearts. They also shared their experiences on how they took their last time at the show’s set.

Paul Wesley (Stefan) said his filming of his character’s final scene turned out hilarious when someone sprayed funfetti on his face. However, Wesley revealed that he got teary-eyed the first time he read TVD’s last episode, TV Guide reported. He told reporters at a recent press screening that he took a selfie while teary-eyed and sent it to show creators Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson.

Ian Somerhalder (Damon), on the other hand, did not get emotional while reading the script but he was amazed by the way the writers summed up all the hanging storylines in just 44 minutes of storytelling.  He assured all questions will be answered and fans will be satisfied with the ending.

Meanwhile, Michael Malarkey (Enzo) said at first that he did not feel the show is finally ending until he shot his last scene for The Vampire Diaries finale. As for Zach Roerig (Matt), the actor admitted that his last scene got really emotional than he wanted it to be.

“I had kind of an emotional scene to end on, so I was trying to keep myself well calibrated and make sure my emotion was based in the scene and not because it was my last scene in the show. At the end, Julie knew. She could see my lip quivering and the snot bubbling and she was like, ‘Zach, this is a free one. Just let it rip.’ I just completely let it out.”

What to Expect in The Vampire Diaries Finale

Plec hinted that the finale is something big and epic that fans should not miss. The showrunner admitted that the last 15 minutes is where they really bid their goodbye.

“It could almost stand on its own as a little movie with all the stuff we’re trying to accomplish. We’re so proud of it. It really did give closure, for better or for worse,” Plec said.

It was earlier revealed that the last episode of TVD will feature a funeral in which Elena (Nina Dobrev) will bid her goodbye to someone she loves. Entertainment Weekly earlier reported that Elena will be seen crying while standing in the Mystic Falls cemetery. However, the identity of the character who will soon die remains a mystery.

Speculations indicated that it will either be Stefan or Bonnie. Many are betting that Stefan is the most likely to die in TVD final episode. Rumors said that Stefan will repay Damon by letting him take the cure from his blood. It seems like Stefan will sacrifice himself to give his brother a mortal lifetime with Elena.

Don’t miss The Vampire Diaries finale on Friday, March 10 at 9 p.m. in The CW.
