The Good Fight will be arriving in a few short weeks and promises to be as intense and addicting as its predecessor. The spinoff to the popular series The Good Wife will see a host of familiar faces returning, but the cases the show will handle will be anything but familiar.
CBS’ upcoming series reportedly revolves around Maia, a talented young lawyer who becomes embroiled in a financial scam that wiped out all of Diane Lockhart’s savings. Alicia Florrick’s erstwhile partner also happens to be her godmother and mentor. The esteemed lawyer is soon forced out of her own firm and ends up joining Luca Quinn’s new law firm.
The Good Fight Cast
Game of Thrones’ Rose Leslie has been tapped to play Maia, while Christine Baranski will be reprising her role as Diane. But she is not the only one who will be making an appearance in The Good Fight. According to TV Series Finale, Carrie Preston will also be back as Elsbeth Tascioni.
Unfortunately for The Good Wife fans, the character is just returning for a guest appearance. The actress had previously revealed that Elsbeth was the best character she ever played. Also, she was willing to keep reprising the role. Luckily for Preston, the TV gods heard her wish!
Aside from Baranski and Preston, fans will also be seeing the familiar faces of Cush Jumbo as Lucca Quinn. Sarah Steele will also return as Marissa Gold. New characters will be introduced as well, including Justin Bartha’s Colin, who is pegged as Lucca’s love interest, and Delroy Lindo as Robert Boseman.
Of course, what fans really want to know is whether Julianna Margulies might be prevailed upon to do a cameo on The Good Fight. There is no word yet on that one. However, show creators Robert and Michelle King are said to be wary of it. According to them, the story arc between Alicia and Diane is already complete and is its own story. The Good Fight is set to debut on CBS on Feb. 19, 2017, Sunday.
