The CW network recently released the renewal for several of its TV series in 2017-2018 seasons. This was announced during the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
According to TV Line, The CW had its appearance on Sunday’s TCA announcing the early renewal of seven programs from the network. As expected, these include The Flash (Season 4 renewal), Arrow (Season 6 renewal), Supergirl (Season 3 renewal), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (also for Season 3 renewal) and more. The aforementioned shows were recently involved in a crossover series.
The CW Renewal on Other Series
Aside from those superhero shows, Jane the Virgin was also renewed for Season 4. Along with it is Supernatural for Season 13 and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend for Season 3. Meanwhile, The Vampire Diaries is set to premiere its final season on March 10.
Its series spinoff The Originals is yet to debut its fourth season on March 17. The 100, iZombie and Riverdale are yet to premiere their seasons as well. On the other hand, Reign’s Season 4 will reportedly be its last as reported previously.
Unfortunately, freshman series such as Frequency and No Tomorrow have not received their “back 9” orders yet. It will not be decided until May so fans must stay tuned for updates.
“Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas,” says The CW boss Mark Pedowitz, Deadline reported.
He added that these early renewals allow the producers to plan ahead of the season. Therefore, it results in building a “solid base” for the upcoming installment. On a brighter note, Pedowitz believes that DC Comics are destined to have full seasons. (It seems like fans will be seeing 20 more episodes again!)
Moreover, The Flash is network’s top series. It averages 1.2 demo rating and gained over 3 million weekly viewers. Barry Allen’s helmed series was followed by Supergirl at 2.9 million and Arrow with 0.9.
In addition, Legends of Tomorrow and Supernatural tie in third place. Furthermore, let us soon find out what is going to happen next with these recently renewed The CW series.
