Series Creator and New Showrunner on Aaron and Emily Drama
Designated Survivor creator David Guggenheim and the series’ new showrunner Jeff Melvoin spoke to TV Guide about Aaron and Emily. Based on what Guggenheim said, it would appear fans could expect to see more drama between the two. Furthermore, Melvoin teased more changes are ahead for both characters.
The fun of Aaron has always been, from Day 1, is is he good or bad? Where are his allegiances? Sometimes he looks like he’s working for other people’s interest, but it turns out it’s his own.
Sometimes you think he’s looking out for his own interest, but it’s for Kirkman. So that’s always the guessing game with Aaron, and I think Adan does it extremely well. As far as the relationship with Emily, the fun of any show is bringing characters close and then tearing them apart and playing that drama.
