The Super Bowl 51 halftime show stage is all set for Lady Gaga this weekend. This time, the singer shares some tidbits from her upcoming performance.
New England Patriots will go up against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday but it seems the biggest event will be coming from the Bad Romance singer. Gaga teased that this year’s halftime show will be different.
During her pre-show press conference, Gaga answered some questions about her performance, including rumors of Beyonce’s appearance. In the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show, Beyonce performed with Coldplay and Bruno Mars. Gaga, on the other hand, sang the national anthem.
This time around, it will be Gaga on the world’s biggest stage. However, she shot down rumors that she will be joined by Queen Bey on stage. The Super Bowl happens in Houston, Beyonce’s hometown.
“She’s always very inspiring and gives great advice, she’s a very focused and genuine performer,” Gaga said. But pregnant Beyonce will not be on stage with her. Gaga, however, added that she might take a few cues from the Grammy-winning singer.
What to Expect on Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl 51 Halftime Show
Gaga revealed that she has been waiting to perform in the Super Bowl since she was 4 so she knows what she wants to do. The Born This Way hit maker confirmed that she will be making a statement in the forthcoming event. The singer has been a known critic of President Donald Trump.
“The only statements I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career. I believe in a passion for inclusion, the spirit of equality and the spirit of this country, one of love and compassion and kindness,” she said.
As for the wow factor, there have been speculations that Lady Gaga will be singing from the roof of Houston’s NRG Stadium before descending down to the field. However, the singer remains mum on what stunts she will do at the show, saying she wants to keep it a surprise.
The singer was also reminded of Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction incident during the Super Bowl 2004 halftime show in Houston. Jackson’s breast was exposed at the time. The Joanne singer assured that it will not happen this time.
The American Horror Story star is expected to perform around 13 songs. Although she did not name her song choices, Gaga hinted that it is going to be a career-spanning performance. She also invited Tony Bennett to join her on stage, while country star Luke Bryan will sing the national anthem.
