Nothing is stopping Stranger Things season 2 star Millie Bobby Brown from taking the spotlight. The young actress just landed her first movie role.
Brown has already signed the dotted line to star in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Superman Returns director Michael Dougherty will helm the project, which he also co-wrote with Zach Shields, his partner on horror movie Krampus.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is Legendary Entertainment’s sequel to its reboot which premiered in 2014. The film came from Rogue One director Gareth Edwards. Apparently, Edwards was supposed to direct Godzilla 2 as well but he stepped out in May 2016 and the release date of the film was pushed back while Legendary searched for a new director.
Brown gained popularity when she played the role of a telekinetic teen, Eleven in the Netflix hit series Stranger Things. She received nods from the Screen Actors Guild Awards and People’s Choice awards for the role. Prior to her biggest television stint with Netflix, Brown appeared on shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Once Upon a Time.
What We Know About Millie Bobby Brown’s Role in Godzilla
Details of the upcoming film remain scarce. It is also unclear if Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen will return in the sequel. So far, Millie Bobby Brown was the only one who has been confirmed to star in the movie.
The Stranger Things season 2 actress, however, confirmed that she has already met Dougherty. “I just had a really incredible connection with the director… It’s my first movie. I’m really excited and that’s really all I can say, but it’s going to be great!” Brown told Entertainment Tonight.
Following her success on Stranger Things, there have been reports indicating Brown can now expect at least £3 million per film. No details were released on how much the young actress will receive for the Godzilla sequel.
According to a website dedicated for Godzilla 2, the forthcoming movie will take place after the events of the 2014 flick. The exciting part is that King of Monsters will feature three monsters – the giant moth guardian Mothra, Rodan, and the three-headed dragon called King Ghidorah.
At the end of the previous movie, Godzilla arose from the devastated San Francisco and returned to sea. The press then dubbed him as King of Monsters.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters has a release date of March 22, 2019. Meanwhile, Stranger Things season 2 is set to premiere this year.
