A more detailed Stranger Things season 2 plot has finally been revealed. What’s in store for Hawkins?
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer shared some tidbits on what fans could expect in the second season of the Netflix series. Although they were tight-lipped on what types of monsters viewers will see this season, Matt teased they will be exploring “different kinds of horror” this time around. In the previous season, fans saw the Demogorgon.
Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, has something for fans to look forward to. The young actor said his character will find a polliwog-like pet this season. “It’s a little creature I get to bond with. It’s obviously not from this planet or this dimension,” Matarazzo told Entertainment Weekly.
Matt Duffer also teased that Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) will be having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder following his experience at the Upside Down. At the end of the previous season, Jonathan’s (Charlie Heaton) brother coughed up a slug in the bathroom sink.
“He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down—the question is whether they’re real or not. So it seems like he’s having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder,” Duffer said.
Meanwhile, Will’s mother Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) will date an old high school classmate, Bob (Sean Astin) next season. Joyce will also try to make things better for her sons. Chief Hopper (David Harbour), on the other hand, will try to keep all the events of last season off the records to protect Joyce and the kids.
Unfortunately, fan favorite Barb (Shannon Purser) is still dead in the Stranger Things season 2 plot and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) will finally mourn her death. Mike (Finn Wolfhard), on the other hand, still thinks he lost Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Ross Duffer said both will struggle over the losses and fans will see its effects this season.
New Characters in Stranger Things Season 2 Plot
Aside from the return of familiar faces, several characters will arrive in Hawkins, Indiana this season. What could their roles be?
Siblings Billy (Dacre Montgomery) and Max (Sadie Sink) will arrive in town in season 2. Max becomes friends with Will, Mike, Dustin and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin). She also attracts a romantic interest from Lucas and Dustin. Billy, on the other hand, is not exactly the friendly type.
Matt Duffer hinted that Billy will play some sort of a villain role. He said they wanted to introduce a character such as Billy. The showrunner teased that human villains are often as cruel, or even worse, than the supernatural evil.
Meanwhile, the Hawkins National Laboratory is still open but it will now be under the supervision of Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser). There’s no word on whether he is a good person or as sinister as the previous one.
