Stranger Things season 2 star Joe Keery goes back to memory lane in a remake of the classic ’80s movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off for a pizza chain’s new app.

Domino’s Pizza released the full-length ad of its new pizza tracker app. The clip features Keery who is trying to beat the pizza delivery man to his house after being alerted to a delivery by his Domino’s pizza tracker watch app.

Keery rose to fame after he starred in Netflix hit sci-fi series Stranger Things as Steve Harrington. The actor has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming season of the series.

According to Adweek, CP+B and Arts & Sciences director Matt Lenski filmed the pizza ad on the same house used in the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Matthew Broderick played Ferris Bueller in the 1986 teen drama. In the movie, Ferris is racing to get home before his parents do after a day of playing hooky.

In a statement, Karen Kaiser, Domino’s vice president of advertising, said:

“We know that customers find the Domino’s Tracker to be a fun part of ordering from Domino’s, so we tried to capture their excitement in this new ad. While we modernized the classic scene with Domino’s Tracker technology and Domino’s custom-built delivery car, the DXP, the scene otherwise stays true to the ’80s Paramount cult classic.”

Stranger Things Season 2 Updates

Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who score the Netflix hit series, teased that season 2 will feature more “weird music.” Aside from directing, writing, characterization, and acting, the soundtrack of the series has been critically acclaimed as well. DigitalSpy quoted Dixon as saying:

“There are new characters, fun, and the Upside Down will be more of a place… you’ll spend more time. So we’ll make a lot more weird music this time around.”

The second installment of the 80’s-themed series will pick up a year after Will Byers (Noah Schapp) was rescued from Upside Down. However, his return in Hawkins will not be less normal than expected. The most recent teaser revealed that Will continues to struggle emotionally and psychologically following his experience in the Upside Down.

Almost all of the cast members in season 1 are coming back in the upcoming installment. There are several new additional to the cast as well. The Duffer brother earlier confirmed that Barb (Shannon Purser) is really dead and not coming back. Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) might still appear in season 2.

Stranger Things season 2 premieres on October 31 in Netflix.
