Stranger Things season 2 star David Harbour revealed that he is terrified for the upcoming season of the Netflix original series. It seems different things await his character.
Harbour (police chief Jim Hopper) said the cast and crew are in a lot of pressure now than when they did the first season. The actor explained that expectations are high for them to deliver an equally great series since season 1 was a hit.
Stranger Things season 1 has been critically-acclaimed and widely received by fans. It was named as the second most-streamed TV show of 2016.
The series also received several nominations from award-giving bodies including three nods from the Golden Globe. Harbour told TV Guide:
“We’re completely terrified. We want it to be even better than Season 1.”
Harbour also assured that fans will be thrilled with the storyline of season 2 like him. He reveals the following clue:
“I got the script for the first episode of Season 2 and within the first five minutes I was on my feet going like, ‘Yes! Yes!’ If we do our jobs, I feel like we have a really exciting season ahead of us.”
Harbour revealed that his character’s journey in the second season will be completely different from the previous installment. The Hawkins chief of police was some sort of an alcoholic back in season 1. In the upcoming season he will deal with the consequences of his actions.
Harbour refused to offer more details about his character. However, he promised that Hopper’s arc will be “rich” and “compelling.”
Who Are Coming in Stranger Things Season 2
The second season will pick up a year after the events of season 1. In the previous installment, a lot of things happened. Barb (Shannon Purser) died, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) was taken by the Demogorgon and was later rescued by his mom Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper.
Netflix has bumped the number of chapters for this season. The inaugural season of the show had eight episodes. The streaming service has previously announced season 2 will have nine, along with the chapters’ titles.
Stranger Things season 2 will introduce new characters too. Siblings Billy (Dacre Montgomery) and Max (Sadie Sink) will arrive in Hawkins, as well as a mysterious woman named Roman (Linnea Berthelsen). She will come to Hawkins due to the strange events in town.
Paul Reiser will also join the cast as Dr. Owens, who will take over the Hawkins National Laboratory. However, Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) might also appear in season 2.
In the season 1 finale, the director of the Hawkins lab was attacked by a monster and could be dead. However, Modine’s recent Instagram photo indicates otherwise.
The actor has teased on social media that there are more to be revealed about this season–including possible clues about his character. So far, the season 2 teaser did not offer any hint that Dr. Brenner will be part of this season.
Mark your calendars for the premiere date of Stranger Things 2. New episodes drop on Halloween, October 31 in Netflix.
