Fans of Wayward Pines season 3 have been waiting for updates about the next part of the TV show. Will it earn a green light for next season or will it be up for cancellation?
To date, Fox has not confirmed as to whether or not Wayward Pines will be getting another season or not. The network has not shared any updates about the series after it ended.
According to International Business Times, season 2 of the show declined in ratings. Perhaps, this could be the reason why Fox has remained mum about a potential season 3 of the TV series.
The publication claimed that season 2 of the series failed to capture the excitement of the first season. The second season declined in ratings from the 3.8 million viewers of season 1 to 2.4 million viewers. Fortunately, the season finale of the second season did well, which had 3.5 million viewers.

Previous talks about Wayward Pines season 3
In September 2016, the CEO of Fox, Dana Walden unveiled that she believes the series should have a season 3. She knows that the first few episodes of the show did not do very well, yet the second half of the season was able to find its footing.
“I definitely think there could be a Season 3,” Walden told TV Line. “We do not know yet what we are going to find when the multi-platform numbers roll up, ultimately how big that audience [can be].”
Walden also revealed that the show is still the number one scripted show of the summer. She even said that the third episode of season 2 was able to give the audience an intriguing story, which is why it should be renewed.
The report also indicated that Walden unveiled the producers of Wayward Pines have a compelling plan and write up for season 3, which she likes very much and that she thinks will be a good story to share to the audience soon.
