Star Wars spinoff

It appears that Woody Harrelson is soon going to add another big name to his resume whom he mentored, after Katniss Everdeen of The Hunger Games. This time it is most likely going to be Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff.

Although talks are still underway and no decision has been reached yet, Harrelson is the top choice for the role. He will be Han Solo’s mentor in the upcoming movie starring Alden Ehrenreich.

Woody Harrelson Could Be Han Solo’s Mentor in Star Wars Spinoff

The upcoming Star Wars movie will be a standalone film like the Rogue One and will be set before Star Wars: A New Hope. Apart from Ehrenreich and Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover will also star in the film.

While Phil Lord and Chris Miller take the director’s seat, Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearmur are producing the film. The Variety reported that the production for the Star Wars spinoff is scheduled to begin in January.

Harrelson and Shearmur formed close ties since the days of The Hunger Games, which Shearmur looked over for Lionsgate. While the cast is mostly made of rising stars, Disney and Lucasfilm wanted a powerful actor for this particular role. Christian Bale was also once considered for the role. Hence, the executives began meeting with actors over the past few weeks.

Rogue One, the first Star Wars Story, has already set a high standard for a Star Wars standalone with scores of positive reviews and a gross income of $800 million worldwide. The film is still running in theaters.
