Six is the newest project of History ChannelTV series. Before the premiere two days from now, here are the things you need to know about the show.
“Follows members of Navy SEAL Team Six, modern American warriors, whose covert mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with terrorists.”
Moreover, the network reveals that the new TV show is inspired by “real missions.” It will show the “inside world” of navies (America’s elite Special Operations unit) sent away to do an assignment. Meaning to say, the series will show a more realistic-like element in the upcoming episodes.
History is set to reveal “…what these SEALs do, their personal lives, combat and the life-and-death decisions they make to protect and serve their country.” Adding on, the portrayal will also focus on brotherhood among the team members.
The network faced a controversy when the creators announced that a new actor will lead Six. This is after Joe Manganiello decided to exit in the show, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The said exit was explained in the Television Critics Association press tour. The real reason on Manganiello’s departure is not due to creative differences or anything but because of a serious illness. The actor was then replaced by Walton Goggins of Justified.
Though the recasting raised a few eyebrows, writer and producer William Broyles revealed that they are happy with Goggins.
“It was a different style of actor, so we were able to adjust and take the series in some different places that we might have with Joe.”
Now, with the series’ recast, Six is set to show Goggins as the troop leader Richard Taggart a.k.a Rip. Along with the actor are Barry Sloane as Joe Graves, Kyle Schmid as Alex Caulder, Juan Pablo Raba as Ricky Ortiz.
Aside from the above cast, Nondumiso Tembe, Jaylen Moore, Edwin Hodge, Brianne Davis, Donny Boaz, Nadine Velasquez and Dominic Adams will also be part of the show.
Six premieres on Jan. 18 in History channel.
