Sister Wives starrers Kody and Meri Brown had never expected a controversial news from their daughter, Mariah. She recently revealed in the TLC series that she is gay.

According to US Weekly, Mariah unveiled this revelation during the franchise’s episode on Jan. 1, Sunday. As expected, the moment of confrontation became expectedly emotional.

Mariah Admits Gay Gender on Sister Wives

The 21-year-old female called out for her five parents. Together with them are her other sister wives, Christine, Janelle and Robin. Mariah was very nervous until she managed to utter the words, “I’m gay.” This concluded that she is indeed a lesbian.

Mariah is one of the eighteen kids in the said polygamist family. Meanwhile, the preview of the upcoming episode shows their reactions about the matter. Meri spoke to Kody telling “You were like smiling and happy and saying you were so happy for her. And I’m just … I don’t …”

While Meri cannot seem to find the right words to say, the latter explained that they are not happy about Mariah being gay. However, they are delighted that somehow, she found her self’s identity, International Business Times reported.

What Mariah Felt After Coming Out

Additionally, the reality star shared that she unexpectedly received a vast amount of support on Twitter after coming out. “Wow okay y’all making me cry with your support. Thank you thank you thank you thank you,” she said.

As viewers must have all known, Brown family practices Mormon Fundamentalism. Despite opposing homosexuality in their religion, they reportedly still approve of gay marriage. It can be mentioned that in the previous reports, Brown family explained that adults must have rights to choose and build their own family.

Moreover, none from the family has addressed the issue yet on social media regarding Mariah’s gender preference. It seems like other members of the family were focused on the catfishing scandal their family got involved with in 2015. Furthermore, avid followers of the reality TV show must continue to watch Sister Wives every Sunday on TLC.
