13 Reasons Why

The Selena Gomez new TV series premieres March 31 on Netflix. The actress/singer and now executive producer posted the news via Instagram along with a chilling sneak peek at her passion project.

The latest Selena Gomez TV show name takes inspiration from the 2007 bestseller of Jay Asher. TVLine described it as a melodrama reminiscent of the outgoing series Pretty Little Liars.

The upcoming 13-episode miniseries is a pet project of Selena Gomez. The pop star takes on the duties of executive producer with passion.

Synopsis of Selena Gomez New TV Series

The Selena Gomez TV series on Netflix presents a heartbreaking story about teenage suicide. Its tagline “If You’re Listening, You’re Too Late” offers an eerie suggestion of what the story is all about. Indeed, the trailer has a ghostly backdrop combined with the troubled look of everyone in it.

As Deadline reports, the new TV series from Gomez follows the story of Clay Jensen. The teenager arrives home to find a box containing 13 cassette tapes.

Apparently, Hannah Baker, another teenager, left these behind. Sadly, she committed suicide two weeks before. Each tape supposedly presents a reason for why she chose to end her life so soon.

As it turns out, Clay and Hannah were classmates. Moreover, he had a crush on her. However, he is uncertain if his name made it onto Hannah’s list. He must listen to each tape to find out.

13 Reasons Why Cast

The cast of the 13-episode series include newcomer Katherine Langford who plays the young teen who committed suicide. Dylan Minnette plays Clay Jensen, her classmate and a boy who had a crush on her.

The trailer from Selena Gomez also presented a handful of the cast. TVLine noted some familiar names like Brian d’Arcy James (Smash), Miles Heizer (Parenthood), and Kate Walsh (Private Practice). It also includes Alisha Boe, Ross Butler, Devin Druid, Brandon Flynn, Amy Hargreaves, Miles Heizer, Derek Luke, Christian Navarro, and Justin Prentice.

13 Reasons Why Production Team

The production team behind 13 Reasons Why also includes a stellar cast. A notable mention is executive producer Selena Gomez. Meanwhile, Oscar winner director Tom McCarthy (Spotlight) and Tony and Pulitzer Prize Winner Brian Yorkey, directed and wrote season 1, respectively.
