ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey says that Secrets and Lies Season 3 renewal could be “less likely” to happen.
The anthology murder and mystery series has been out since March 2015. The first season gained enormous success but the second season experienced the opposite.
After the first season, the series waited for quite a long time to launch season 2. This might have hurt the show’s ratings.
The show’s future
Apparently, Dungey, being the network boss might have the last say regarding the Secret and Lies season 3 renewal. Its viewers might be hoping for a positive feedback but she is not too positive.
The ABC boss told Deadline that she loves the show. However, for some reason, she may not be able to give it another go.
“The bummer for me is, I actually held it for the fall. When I stepped into this role and saw the creative, I actually thought it was really strong and I said, we should hold it til the fall and give it the best opportunity. I wish that it had been last year in the season. It was off the air for too long to have held its audience.”
Last month, TVLine reported that the show has already its plans for season 3. But first off, executive producer Barbie Kligman shared details about its season 2 finale.
The avid viewers might miss the major cliffhanger- which is about Cornell’s fate. Aside from that, fans would also like to see what will happen to Amanda after accidentally killing Kate.
But, even Kligman stated that the Secret and Lies Season 3 renewal depends on the television network. “It really just depends on where ABC is and what the numbers are,” Kligman said. Should it happen, Kligman explained what would the next season be like.
“Just as much from the prospective of the police solving the case as it would from the perspective of the potential suspect,” the site quotes. “We would show enough of the cops that you would get to see more of [Cornell’s] day-to-day with her colleagues and supervisors.”
