A new episode of Scandal airs this week. However, it seems Scandal season 6 spoilers point to a slow burn towards the full revelation about President Elect Frankie Vargas’ assassination.
Scott Foley recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter to hint at details about his character and when the audience will get the true story of Election Night. Foley, who plays Jake Ballard on the show, revealed in an earlier interview that episode 5 titled They All Bow Down will reveal Jake’s whereabouts on Frankie Vargas’ (Ricardo Chavira) assassination.
Indeed, episode 5 finally revealed a piece of Jake’s disappearing act. Despite many viewers refusing to believe it, it was Rowan (Joe Morton) behind the text message Jake received. He also revealed he knew about Vargas’ fate that night.
However, nothing is what it seems in Scandal. Hence, even though Papa Pope knows about the assassination, it does not necessarily mean he ordered the hit on the PEOTUS. This just makes episode 5 another piece in the puzzle, but it still does not give away the bigger picture.
Foley’s interview with THR confirms this. Based on his statement, it could be a long way before a concrete explanation happens on the series. Foley told the source:
“When do you believe anything on Scandal? It’s tough… We’re seeing where everybody was and what everybody was doing during the assassination and what role they played in it… I think it’s all going to slowly unravel. At a certain point, there will definitely be that aha moment. When that’s going to happen? Give it a few episodes. We’ve still got some digging to do. Each episode we’ll un-fog the mirror a little bit more.”
It remains to be seen when the big reveal happens. However, given the short season, the series could unravel everything as far as the finale.
Scandal Season 6 Spoilers for Episode 6
Although a big reveal seems far away, Scandal‘s next episode could delve more into Rowan’s role in all the drama. According to CarterMatt, the synopsis alone puts Rowan in the middle of the episode. The source relays:
“Rowan is caught by surprise when someone from his past resurfaces, and Olivia has to make a life-changing decision about the campaign. Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal exactly what happened the night of Francisco Vargas’ assassination.”
The source theorizes that the upcoming episode could show a different side of Rowan the audience have not seen before. Perhaps the person who catches him by surprise has a bigger involvement with the assassination.
