There are twists coming in American Horror Story than just a simple anthology installment. Creator Ryan Murphy once again teased an AHS crossover of two more past seasons of the FX hit horror series.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy said, “It’s a character from season 1 that will be thrust into the world that you are left with at the end of Coven, which is sort of like the male/female/witch academy. And then all of those characters will intertwine, which is confusing because some of them are from Seasons 1 and 3.”
Another surprising revelation from the creator is the potential of a cast member playing multiple roles. Murphy said, “Like, Sarah Paulson will probably be playing 18 characters.”
This is not the first time Murphy hinted about a crossover season. Last year, he first revealed that they are planning to do a crossover between Murder House and Coven. However, he also said at the time that it will not be happening soon.
Earlier this month, FX also renewed the series for two more seasons. Murphy has confirmed that the seventh installment has a connection with season 4 (Freak Show). Paulson and Evan Peters were reportedly set to appear in season 7.
Since Murphy said that Paulson would probably play multiple characters in the crossover, what could the characters be? Paulson fans know the range of the actress’ acting chops. Hence, it would be interesting to see her play many roles at one time.
Sarah Paulson’s Roles in American Horror Story Seasons 1-6
The actress played different characters in each of the show’s six seasons. In season 1 (Murder House), Paulson portrayed Billie Dean Howard, a medium who Constance asks for help. Paulson reprised the same role in season 5 (Hotel).
In season two (Asylum), she played the role of journalist Lana Winters. The character returned in season 6 (Roanoke). Paulson also played the role of conjoined twin sisters Bette and Dot Tattler in season 4 (Freak Show).
In season three (Coven), Paulson’s character Cordelia Foxx is the daughter of Fiona Goode (Jessica Lange), the Supreme and Headmistress of a mysterious all-girls boarding school. In the season finale, Cordelia became the new Supreme and regained her sight. She also opened the doors of the Academy and welcomed new recruit witches.
Certainly, the actress can play multiple characters. Will she reprise Cordelia in the crossover? Regardless of Paulson’s role, it is still something worth waiting for.
American Horror Story season 7 will premiere later this year. Check back with us for updates.
