American Crime Story season 4 will get more controversial as it will focus on the Monica Lewinksy sex scandal. Get all the details of the upcoming season here.
ACS creator Ryan Murphy recently confirmed that season 4 will indeed tackle Lewinsky’s narrative of her affair with former US President Bill Clinton. Murphy, however, clarified that the season will not be about Hillary Clinton at all.
He said that season 4 will focus on the other participants in the scandal such as Linda Tripp. She is the civil servant who secretly recorded Lewinsky’s phone calls about her relationship with then-President Clinton.
It was earlier speculated that the fourth season of the critically-acclaimed anthology series will be about Lewinsky. The rumors emerged when 20th Century Fox recently optioned rights to Jeffrey Toobin’s book, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down A President.
Toobin’s book documented the Lewinsky sex scandal that led to the impeachment trial of President Clinton. Toobin also wrote the book on which American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson was based.
“The Toobin book is amazing. And there are a lot of bizarre crimes within that book that you can highlight. But the show isn’t really about Hillary Clinton, it really is about the other women. In fact, we might be doing the Clintons with hand puppets [laughs], I don’t know. We’re more focused on the mechanizations behind the scenes to try and get [Bill Clinton] impeached,” Murphy told E! News.

Murphy also confirmed that Sarah Paulson will be in season 4. However, the actress will not be playing Hillary Clinton.
Murphy and Paulson have a long working history. The two worked together in The People v. O.J. Simpson and in all seasons of American Horror Story.
“Sarah will be in it but she won’t be playing Hillary [Clinton]. That’s earmarked for talks with somebody else. We’re casting that now. I can’t say what Sarah is playing, but it starts shooting at the end of this year,” said Murphy.
Prior to Lewinsky’s story, FX will first air two seasons of ACS. The story of Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath will be the sophomore season of the show. It is expected to air in 2018.
Murphy revealed that he is working to have This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown in the Katrina season. He added that several actors from the O.J. Simpson season will also appear in the second run.
Meanwhile, season 3 will be about the assassination of fashion icon Gianni Versace in 1997. Annette Bening will reportedly appear in all upcoming seasons of ACS. Murphy had already confirmed that Lady Gaga will not be playing Donatella Versace in season 3.
FX and Murphy have yet to announce the premiere date for American Crime Story season 4. All ACS stories air in FX.
