The Rick and Morty season 3 delays have been a major issue to fans. Finally, co-creator Dan Harmon speaks up about the matter.

According to Comic Book, Harmon already addressed these delays several times and explained that he is the main reason behind the third season’s slow progress in production. Nevertheless, fans kept on asking for updates and followed the creator’s statements closely.

iDigitalTimes reported that season 3 was initially projected to premiere in 2016. But until now, no announcement has been made regarding an official premiere date.

“Rick and Morty keeps taking longer and longer to write and I do not know why. We have fights all the time and then we have fights about why we are having fights.”

From the statement, iDigitalTimes reported that the “fights” Harmon mentioned do not pertain to personal clashes. Instead, his creative differences with co-creator Justin Roiland is the reason for the delays. Harmon cited on Twitter that their usual fights are about what jokes to do.

In the end, the main reason for the long wait is the duo’s goal in perfecting the third season. In addition, the release of a season 3 schedule is still out of their hands. Harmon explained that it is a completely different matter and everything is up for Adult Swim to announce.

Rick and Morty Season 3 Update Happened in an Unusual Way

Given the constant need for updates, Harmon was once again asked about Rick and Morty by a host in an interview. Instead of answering the question through a statement, the co-creator delivered his response in a rap. Here is what he said:

“They’re drawing it

They’re drawing it

They’re drawing it

Here’s how cartoons work

First, you write them

Then you draw them for a really long time

Everything needs to be on paper

So you can see it

So if all I do is write it and then put it on TV

It will look like a script.”

Despite taking the blame for the delays, Harmon’s rap suggests that other aspects are also in play in the third season’s slow production. Nevertheless, the creative reply should serve as assurance to fans that the project is underway.
