Just as the audience thought that season 2 would be the last, the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend renewal for Season 3 is already a go.
The comedic television show has been on small screens but some claim that it does not have that much appeal to the viewers. The CW show has its own loyal fanbase, but is very limited, according to the reports.
But despite that, the network decided to give the series a chance to redeem itself by giving it a third season. CW head honcho Mark Pedowitz explained the reason behind the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend renewal via Cinema Blend.
The reason behind Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Renewal for Season 3 Explained
“Critically acclaimed, great programming, sometimes you just leave it on the air and hopefully it finds an audience. I am hoping that happens. If it doesn’t, I will have no regrets of having continued the series,” the website quotes.
“It has everything to do with how Crazy Ex, Jane the Virgin and the DC franchises have helped alter the perception of what The CW has become,” the head explained further, quotes TV Guide.
The show gained a lot of viewers and was critically acclaimed during season 1. But things have changed that made the show slowly losing its core audience.
One reason might be the fact that CW moved its timeslot to Friday night. Usually, the audience is expecting that particular day to be the slot for primetime shows instead of musical comedy series.
The show still got viewers in the slot and with more than 700k average watchers during the second season. But, the numbers might say that the performance became low.
Albeit, the third season might be the chance for the show to prove that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend deserves to continue its story. Actress Rachel Bloom, who is according to the outlet, has an inspirational attitude, might be one of the key factors for the ratings’ improvement.
On the other hand, the plot for season 3 is yet to be out. So, this must be the starting point for the fans to think what could happen on the next season.
