Problems with Storytelling Threaten Blindspot Season 3 Renewal

Blindspot season 3

Fans waiting for news of the Blindspot season 3 renewal might have to hold on longer. NBC heads have yet to make a decision on the matter.

Yet another TV show’s fate hangs in the balance. This time around, the possibility of whether there comes a Blindspot season 3 is a question many of its fans are possibly wondering.

In contrast, the season 2 renewal came quickly. Yahoo recalls NBC gave Blindspot the green light for a second season just over a month after its premiere back in 2015. So, what is the hold up now?

Ratings Threaten Blindspot Season 3 Renewal

Once again, ratings appear to be the culprit threatening to shut down the Blindspot season 3 renewal. Alas, compared to its freshman run, the ratings for the current season is down specifically by as much as 40 percent.

Moreover, its average demo rating appears to have slid from 1.1 to 0.9. Among the network’s ten dramas, Blindspot came in at eighth. Alas, it only managed to outdo Grimm and Emerald City.

Ratings are not the Only Hitch to Blindspot Season 3

Aside from ratings, the TV series appears to have another problem to date, i.e., its storytelling. Alas, the story of Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) seems to have gotten lost in the numerous subplots the series has created. Hence, it became difficult for viewers to keep track of what is happening.

Then again, the technique utilized by season 2 to date could be the positive quality to bring about Blindspot season 3. As TV Line points out, the series is most captivating when the lead character Jane  has some sense of her mysterious past. Hence, it has become increasingly intriguing to watch now owing to the substantial backstory given to Jane, who comes with actual relatives.

Other than that, a darker plot is emerging. The series has noticeably killed off a number of its major characters. Hence, fans likely feel the same way as Jaimie Alexander who calls it shocking.

The actress made the comment in response to the unexpected death of Assistant Director of the FBI’s NY Field Office, Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste). Nonetheless, it helps keep audiences interested and at the edge of their seats.

Indeed, it would appear the TV show has a lot more to give. Hence, if a Blindspot season 3 cancellation happens, it would likely leave fans hanging for an appropriate end to Jane Doe’s story.
