Fans are afraid that the Days of Our Lives cancellation might happen soon. However, it seems there’s more hope than doom for the future of the series. Recent reports suggest the NBC soap will introduce a new head writer.

According to The Wrap, Emmy Award-winning Ron Carlivati will be DOOL’s new head writer. The source confirmed that Carlivati will replace Dena Hugley. It seems like the 52-year-old soap will be in good hands after all.

Meanwhile, Carlivati’s other credits include being head writer for the ABC series One Life to Live. After its cancellation in 2012, he moved to General Hospital in the same year until 2015. Aside from winning an Emmy, he also earned one from Writers Guild Awards.

In addition, co-head writer Ryan Quan will serve as creative consultant. Quan will be working with Sheri Anderson Thomas. The latter has won an Emmy in 1967 for being a part of Days’ writing team and another one in 1984 for her work in Santa Barbara.

How to Prevent Days of our Lives Cancellation

DOOL fans first panicked when reports revealed that Megyn Kelly left FOX to pursue a deal with NBC – a daytime talk show and Sunday night magazine series. Rumors then emerge that the network may cancel its own soap to accommodate a show for Kelly.

However, having new award-winning people working behind the soap should put the show’s followers at ease. The people behind Days stated, “We look forward to the fresh and compelling stories these changes will bring to Salem.” On the other hand, TV Line stated some ideas to avoid the cancellation.

  1. The show has to cut the people that obviously have to go. The source also suggests that Days must focus more on putting value to their production.
  2. With its new head writer, the soap must introduce a new plot to accommodate 2017. They must try to cope with the current times and be modern enough.
  3. Make something new for the show’s romance. Days must remind its audience that over the years, the show’s romance has always been attention-worthy.
  4. Talking about romance, bringing back Sami and EJ is the best card they have. Though Alison Sweeney and James Scott might cost them, it will certainly all be worth it.

At this point, no concrete details exist for the possible Days of Our Lives cancellation. For the meantime, watch a new episode of the soap on January 25.
