Paul Reiser is one of the new faces in Stranger Things season 2. He reportedly fills the void left behind by Matthew Modine. Yet his character Dr. Owens will be different from Dr. Brenner.

Dr. Owens arrives at Hawkins, Indiana to clean up the previous incident. Hence, he is now in charge of the lab inadvertently left behind by Dr. Brenner.

Consequently, he also takes over the supernatural activities taking place there. Yet unlike his predecessor, Dr. Owens has a bit more compassion.

Stranger Things Season 2 Alien Connection

“There’s a little more humanity. Modine’s character had very few lines so he was this looming, powerful presence. My guy is much more hands-on and sort of among his many degrees is that he has a bedside manner that Modine’s character did not have. I know coming into this what this community has gone through and my job is to try and walk them through their mistrust,” Reiser told Entertainment Weekly.

Then again, it would appear even Paul Reiser is not convinced his character is a hundred percent upright. Admittedly, the actor is uncertain if Dr. Owens is a good guy or a bad guy even after reading a few scripts. He further had doubts after talking with the Duffer Brothers to find out what they had in mind for the role. Nonetheless, Reiser said he is having fun with it.

As it turns out, his character Dr. Owens is in honor of his other famous role as the double-dealing Carter Burke in James Cameron’s Aliens. The Dufffer Brothers called the character Paul Reiser before eventually christening it as Dr. Owens. Regardless, it will likely stir a lively debate among Stranger Things season 2 fans once it premieres.

Stranger Things Season 2 News

Aside from Paul Reiser, the Stranger Things season 2 also welcomed Goonies star Sean Astin. His inclusion is another homage to the eighties movie past according to Screen Crush. The show also cast Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers), Brett Gelman, and Linnea Berthelsen as series regulars.

Interestingly, Finding Dory director Andrew Stanton is one of the upcoming season’s directors. Thus, it would be interesting to see what he adds to the series.

Meanwhile, the Stranger Things season 2 villain choices appear to include other monsters from the role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons. From the list, it would seem the Tiamat and the Lolth stand out as the possible candidates.
