Good news for the fans of Starz’s time drama! Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are all set to come back to Ayrshire to continue filming for Outlander Season 3.
Cast to Commence Shooting at Dunure
According to a report published in The Scottish Sun, the show’s crew will arrive at Dunure on January 30 so that they can shoot some scenes in the village for Season 3. Incidentally, the same location was used when Kennedy Park was changed into another set last year.
Bill Grant, a councilor and who is also responsible for tourism related matters, said he was delighted that the network chose Dunure as one of their filming locations. Grant said, “The backdrop with the castle and the rugged coastline is fabulous. We are delighted they have chosen South Ayrshire to do the filming.”
Meanwhile, Diana Gabaldon had earlier shared that the production team of the series gave up their vacations so that filming could be swift. They got a break for only a fortnight instead of six weeks.
The new season is expected to commence with some crucial scenes of Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. While Heughan’s character Jamie will be seen in the Battle of Culloden, there will be a flashback sequence for Claire at Boston in the United States.
Renovation of Historic Castle
Another report from the same outlet mentioned that a Perthshire castle, where some scenes of Outlander were shot, is undergoing renovation. The project is being undertaken so that the place can handle a large number of tourists.
Tourists have been flocking at the Doune Castle due to the “Outlander effect.” It was shown as the fictitious Castle Leoch in the series. Over 71,000 tourists visited the fortress last year.
The fortress became famous not only due to the Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. It was also used as a set in the popular television series Game of Thrones.
