Outlander season 3 spoilers suggest that fans won’t have to wait long for the Starz series’ return. Reports reveal that the production team filming in Scotland already wrapped up.
According to Carter Matt, filming for season 3 in the said location has already been completed. This news seems to coincide with recent photos on Sam Heughan’s Twitter account. Despite this progress, the show will still continue filming after they transfer to South Africa.
Some images have also been released through the series’ blog. On the other hand, The Scottish Sun further reported more information about the series’ filming. Some images showed filming for Clare (Catriona Balfare) and Jamie’s (Heughan) romantic moments while another placed them at Dunure Castle at South Ayrshire.
Outlander Season 3 Spoilers: Filming Details and Lord John Grey’s Involvement
Outlander season 3 takes inspiration from Voyager, Diana Gabaldon’s third book. Fans are quite eager to know if she has other books that can be used as source material. A common inquiry from fans is if they will see more of Lord John Grey (Oscar Kennedy.)
John is a significant character who first appeared in season 2 and eventually become a fan-favorite. Fans’ love for the character pushed Gabaldon to write a spin-off novel focused on him.
While she have the source, Gabaldon answered that her contract excludes those books focused on John. However, the author used some information to use as background for the ongoing series.
Furthermore, although season 3 does not revolve on John Grey, Heughan teased a tidbit that may excite fans. In an interview, the actor said that one of Grey’s books will probably be involved in season 3.
Heughan is talking about the piece titled The Scottish Prisoner. The said book’s events reveal details that took place at the same time as Voyager.
Moreover, the book picks up when Jamie emerged as a paroled prisoner during war. Memories of Claire continue to haunt him. As Jamie tries to move away from the chaos of war and politics, John Grey comes along to recruit him for a time sensitive mission.
The two ended up travelling to Ireland together. Therefore, John Grey will no doubt make an undeniable impact despite taking minimal part in season 3 through The Scottish Prisoner.

Not directly; my contract with Sony doesn't include those books (but I did give Ron & Co. "Virgins" as background, and Toni used lines). https://t.co/eJxmsAYEOv
