A number of Orphan Black season 5 teasers were recently released on the show’s Twitter page. Although mostly vague, the series of sneak peeks hint a darker road for the show’s final season.
Comic Book Movie relays that there were eleven teasers released in total. Each clip was brief with little to no dialogue. However, the source did say that the short videos were a glimpse of actual footage from the fifth season.
Some of the eleven clips showed Tatiana Maslany in her numerous roles–particularly as Alison, Cosima, Helena, Rachel and Sarah. Given that the teasers ran for merely five seconds each, the fate of the sestras remain uncertain.
Nevertheless, the longest of the clips showing a DNA strand featured a voiceover from one of Maslany’s characters–presumably Sarah Manning. She says, “We would die for each other.”
Orphan Black Season 5 Teaser is More Than Meets the Eye
However, despite the Orphan Black season 5 teasers appearing to make no sense, there’s more to it under the surface. Screen Rant offers the following analysis:
“The DNA imagery naturally evokes the cloning storyline that has brought all of these characters together and may also suggest a major shift to the DNA of the show which could be anything from formatting, which characters fans think they really know or who is in charge of the Clone Club. Sarah’s voiceover is perhaps the most important aspect where she declares that she will be standing up for her clone sisters, no matter what may be on the horizon of the fifth season. Maybe they won’t all make it out alive?”
The last bit from the source’s analysis emerges as the most interesting. After all, the teaser clips showing a sestra hint that they are each in a difficult situation.
If this is the path the show decides to take, it would be interesting to know who among the sestras will meet her end. Consequently, why that person in particular?
These clips, however, are very brief to offer any concrete clues about next season. Fans could only hope that BBC America will release more meaty teasers before the last season’s premiere.
Orphan Black Season 4 Makes it to Amazon
Meanwhile, fans who are yet to catch up on the series need not fret. The series’ fourth season makes its way to Amazon Prime. Orphan Black season 4 drops on March 16 in the service.
Fans looking for a distraction can re-watch the penultimate season. Orphan Black season 5 airs on June 10 at 10 p.m. in BBC America.
