Obi-Wan Kenobi and Maul’s Showdown Teased in Star Wars Rebels Trailer

Star Wars Rebels

The latest trailer for Star Wars Rebels season 3 teases the comeback of Obi-Wan Kenobi. At the same, it hints at his likely face-off with Darth Maul.

Star Wars Rebels recently raised interest in its forthcoming episode Ghosts of Geonosis. The two-part episode on January 7 welcomes the arrival of Saw Gerrera to the animated TV series.

Forest Whitaker lends his voice to the slightly younger version of his character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Saw Gerrera first appeared on Star Wars: The Clone Wars as a young man. The official synopsis for Ghosts of Geonosis highlights Saw and Whitaker’s presence.

Official Synopsis for Star Wars Rebels Two-Part Episode

“Hope. Revenge. Rebellion. See what’s to come in the rest of Star Wars Rebels Season Three in this thrilling mid-season trailer. The crew returns to Geonosis in search of a missing rebel team sent to investigate suspicious activity there, and they are surprised by what they find. After finding a missing rebel team member, the Ghost crew discovers another surprise on Geonosis, and they work to conceal it from Imperial forces.”

Forest Whitaker, who stars as Rebel freedom fighter Saw Gerrera in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, provides the voice of the character as he makes his debut.

Aside from Saw Gerrera, two major characters are set to appear in season 3. Moreover, their presence points to the huge possibility of an epic showdown between them. Inverse writes the duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul takes place on Tatooine in the desert. Apparently, this is the first time the Jedi Master appears ever since The Clone Wars ended. His appearance in The Force Awakens only came in the form of a voice cameo.

Interestingly, the stance of Obi-Wan in the mid-season trailer references Ewan McGregor in Revenge of the Sith. Take note the two pointing fingers. According to Slash Film, the showdown between them was likely since the season has been leading to it. Thus, the Sith apprentice might be looking for revenge against Obi-Wan for chopping him in half in the last part of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
