The Game of Thrones season 7 poster may be the biggest news of the hour. However, given that the poster does not really reveal anything much, other recent details related to the series may hold a heavier significance to fans.

One of these heavier news comes straight from Isaac Hempstead Wright. The actor, who plays Bran Stark in the series, teased what’s in store for his character in the upcoming season.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Wright revealed that things are not looking good for Bran. Fans will recall that in the previous season, Hodor sacrificed himself. Hence, Bran and Meera escaped.

That leaves the duo alone in the wilderness. Wright even teases he is not sure if the pair will make it to the wall. With Bran’s fate in danger, there’s no way to know whether Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) true parentage will ever be revealed.

Aside from Bran’s fate, Wright also covered other things including Bran’s transformation to the Three-Eyed Raven and even how he feels about Kristian Nairn’s Hodor leaving the show.

Sense of responsibility and purpose comes center stage with regards to Bran’s transition to becoming the Three-Eyed Raven. According to Wright, taking on a new role is what Bran is used to. Hence, despite the big change, Wright thinks that Bran “has maintained his sense of being good.”

In terms of not having co-star Kristian Nairn around, the young actor shares it feels weird. Wright and Nairn spent all their scenes together since Bran lost his legs after falling off the Winterfell tower in season one.

Former President Barack Obama in Game of Thrones

Another big news overshadowing the release of the GoT poster points at the potential appearance of a former US president in the series. It turns out author George R.R. Martin considers the former POTUS as a good candidate to make a cameo on the show. When a fan asked who he dreams of showing up in the series, Martin replied:

“Well, Barack Obama would be pretty exciting. And actually, he IS a fan of the show.”

If the former POTUS agrees to do a cameo, he’ll be joining a long list of other celebrities who made a Game of Thrones appearance. Celebrities who stepped in the world of Westeros include Coldplay drummer Will Champion and George W. Bush’s severed head.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Poster

The Game of Thrones season 7 poster was recently revealed at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. On the surface, the poster looks simple with the text #GOTS7 emblazoned against both an icy and fiery backdrop.

However, the fandom knows better than to take a poster like this as ‘simple.’ Instead, Junkee offers an analysis of the poster. The source says:

“…what happens when ice meets fire? It’s the original odd couple! Things do not work out well for anyone. …ice can either represent the hardy people of the North, and their disastrous clashes with their decadent enemies in the South. Or it could be referencing the clash of ice zombies known as ‘White Walkers’ versus dragons.”

Although providing little to no information, the poster is effective in eliciting conversation among its fans. What are your thoughts on the Game of Thrones season 7 poster? Share it with us below.
