The Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents are reopening a death case to fulfill a sailor’s death wish in NCIS season 14 episode 18. But it will also force one of their own to relive some tragic memories from his past.
NCIS senior special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team will re-investigate a closed case that was originally ruled out as an accidental death. However, a dying serviceman insists that what happened was far from being an accident, but a cold-blooded murder.
The NCIS members will dig deeper into the case to find out if there is any truth to the sailor’s claim. If he is right, the team would make sure that justice is served.
However, the investigation will not be easy for all. The case will remind agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) of a tragic time in his past, the International Business Times noted. Torres will be forced to revisit an event from his past that seems like he would like to forget.
CBS posted a sneak peek for NCIS season 14 episode 18 in which Gibbs is seen confronting Torres. Nick, who looks annoyed, asked Gibbs if he has a problem. Torres asks his superior:
“You know there is. What are you trying to do?”
Gibbs brushes off Torres’ anger and tells him he is only doing his job and that he should also do the same.
NCIS Agent Torres’ Back Story
Valderrama joined the CBS procedural drama this season as Agent Torres. The actor was tapped to join the cast after Michael Weatherly (Anthony DiNozzo) departed the show at the end of the previous season.
Viewers have known that Valderrama’s character was once a rogue agent. Torres had gone MIA after accepting a deep cover assignment in a foreign country many years ago.
When Torres resurfaced, he became unpredictable and a charismatic loose cannon. Will the latest NCIS case change Nick now that his tragic past will come into the light?
Meanwhile, fans will see more of Gibbs on the field. It was confirmed that he will not be taking Director Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) post.
In the previous episode, Congresswoman Flemming (Mary Stuart Masterson) asked Vance to run for Congress and leave NCIS. For a while, Vance seemed to be considering Flemming’s suggestion. In the end, the director decided to stay away from politics, saying he is happy with his current job.
NCIS season 14 episode 18 airs on Tuesday, March 14 at 8 p.m. in CBS. NCIS will take a week break and will return on March 28.
