Fans have something big to look forward to when NCIS returns in March. Senior Agent Jethro Gibbs may finally take the director post as NCIS season 14 episode 17 spoilers indicated.
In the upcoming episode titled What Lies Above, Congresswoman Jenna Fleming (Mary Stuart Masterson) is coming back. Fleming will try to convince Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) to pursue a career in politics.
Who will replace Vance as NCIS director if he decides to take a different career path? Naturally, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is the top contender.
In the previous episode, Flemming told Gibbs that it is time for him to take the “big chair,” hinting that Vance will not be in his post much longer. Will Gibbs accept the offer?
NCIS fans have known Gibbs has no patience when it comes to politics. Thus, he chose to work on the field rather than behind the desk. Will viewers see less of Gibbs if he becomes director?
In a recent interview with TVLine, Emily Wickersham (Agent Ellie Bishop) teased that there might be a “big shift” coming up in NCIS. When asked about Fleming’s offer to Gibbs, Wickersham said:
“When we got to that moment at the table read, I was like, “Wait, what? Hold up….” We all kind of turned to each other. It was like a little tiny thing, but it was a big drop, so I am super-curious about that, because that would be a big deal, and a big shift.”
Meanwhile, NCIS season 14 episode 17 spoilers also indicated that Agent McGee (Sean Murray) will find his apartment torn apart by a robber. McGee will find out that the previous owner of his unit was a convicted criminal who apparently hid a valuable item in the apartment, TVGuide wrote. The thief is now after the item.
NCIS Season 14 Episode 16 Recap
In the previous episode, Bishop finally got her revenge on the death of her boyfriend Qasim (Rafi Silver). Bishop found out about Ellie’s rogue investigation on Chen (Bruce Locke). However, since the evidence against Chen was circumstantial, Flemming ordered NCIS to just follow Chen and not to arrest him on charges that will not stand in court.
Chen then showed up at Gibbs’ home to inform him and Bishop that he has been working for the CIA, to help bring in a Syrian warlord. Bishop did not believe him.
She swapped phones with Flemming and led Chen to a meeting where she presented him with two choices – commit suicide or wait for a group of angry Syrians to capture and kill him. Chen chose the former.
At the end, Gibbs gave Bishop a stern warning for what she did. The senior agent told her:
“Each time you go rogue, there’s a price to pay — and it isn’t cheap.”
Before leaving, Bishop left Gibbs a greeting card she was supposed to give Qasim on the day he died. In the card, she answered “yes” to the marriage proposal he had made after 104 dates.
