NCIS Season 14 did a major casting overhaul this season as three new agents were added to the team. Unfortunately, another shake-up is reportedly on the horizon. Will fans be saying goodbye to another fan favorite?
NCIS Season 13 ended on a bittersweet note as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo left the team to focus on raising his daughter. There is no question that his departure left a huge void. But it also left room to inject some new blood. Hopefully, agents Clayton Reeves, Nick Torres and Alex Quinn will be positive additions to the team.
Is Another NCIS Agent Saying Goodbye?
Fans are still getting to know these agents, but there are already rumblings that another major character might be leaving the series too. According to a report from News Everyday, that character might be the main man himself – Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Nothing has been confirmed, but some fans have pointed to the character’s lessened screen time and increasingly frail appearance as cause for concern.
It is hard to imagine NCIS without Mark Harmon. After all, he is the heart and soul of the series, plus the actor had already signed a two-year contract to keep appearing on NCIS Season 14.
There have also been rumblings that Abby Sciuto or Director Leon Vance might be killed off. But both Pauley Perrette and Rocky Carroll have iron-clad contracts as well. However, Davic McCallum had previously teased that he is considering retirement.
Will NCIS Be Canceled?
Aside from the rumors of a major character departing, there are speculations that the show might be canceled soon. Ratings have apparently dropped, although around 14 to 15 million people still tune in to watch the show. While there might be some truth to its numbers dropping, NCIS still remains a ratings powerhouse.
The show continues to deliver interesting storylines weekly, and fans are still invested in the characters. So fans should rest easy as NCIS Season 14 is not going anywhere.
