Mr. Robot season 3 has been pushed to October. But the good news is that a veteran actor is set to join the cast.

The first two seasons of the series debuted in June and July, respectively. Many of the show’s fans were not surprised of the delay after its sophomore year did not receive the same reception as season 1.

There have been speculations that USA Network decided to delay the premiere date of season 3 to give more time to creator Sam Esmail for crafting the upcoming installment.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that Mr. Robot was moved to a fall premiere as USA Network prepares to launch another high-profile new drama this summer – The Sinner. The new show is an anthology crime thriller which will star and be produced by Jessica Biel.

THR also cited the statement of Jeff Wachtel, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Chief Content Officer, in which he expressed the network’s confidence in Esmail. Wachtel said:

“Season 3 of Mr. Robot will engage viewers in a whole new way, with Sam and team continuing to find ways to surprise, challenge and delight the audience.”

Mr. Robot season 3 will also have 10 episodes, like in season 1. Season 2 had 12 episodes. Esmail will again direct all of the episodes in the third season. Production starts next month in New York.

New and Returning Cast Members For Mr. Robot Season 3

Bobby Cannavale will be joining the cast as a series regular. He will play Irving, a laconic, no-nonsense used car salesman. How the character will connect with Elliot (Rami Malek) is still unclear.

The actor starred as the New York City gangster Gyp Rosetti in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire.  He also appeared in another HBO drama, Vinyl. The show, however, only lasted for one season.

Cannavale will be joining Malek, Christian Slater (Mr. Robot/Edward), Portia Doubleday (Angela), and Carly Chaikin (Darlene). Fans are also expecting the return of Martin Wallström (Tyrell Wellick), Grace Gummer (Dom DiPierro), Michael Cristofer (Phillip Price), and Stephanie Corneliussen (Joanna Wellick).

Viewers are also expecting that Krista (Gloria Reuben) will come back as Elliot’s therapist. Mr. Robot season 3 spoilers suggest that Krista will do everything to help Elliot do away with Edward.

Meanwhile, BD Wong (Whiterose) will be a series regular in the upcoming season.  The leader of the Chinese-based hacker organization Dark Army will have move screen time in the upcoming season.
