This is What The Mountain Is Up To When He’s Not in Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson

His character is one of the most sinister in Game of Thrones. However, when he’s not around Westeros, it appears The Mountain has some fun things up his sleeve.

Fans may find it hard to believe, but Ser Gregor Clegane is not all murder and bloodshed. Sometimes, he just likes to hurl washing machines.

A report from Gizmodo relays a video of actor Hafthór Björnsson doing just this. Aside from playing The Mountain in Game of Thrones, Bjornsson is also known for being the second strongest man in the world. In the video, he attempts to beat the Guinness World Record for throwing a washing machine.

The source details that the video comes from a 2016 episode of the Italian TV show Lo Show Dei Record. Unfortunately, though, Björnsson didn’t break the current record. Zydrunas Savickas maintains his hold of the title on that one.

Nevertheless, The Mountain hurling some stuff is still a fun thing to watch. Head on to the Laughing Squid to check some of his videos.

Possibility of more episodes for Game of Thrones season 8

It is no surprise that The Mountain has time on his hands. Game of Thrones season 7 doesn’t come out until later this year. Nevertheless, even with season 7 still on the way, talks about season 8 already emerged.

The recent news about the planned final season pointed to its number of seasons. Last year, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss shared that the last two remaining seasons will only have 13 episodes more. That means there will be less than ten episodes per season, which became the standard for the show the past six years.

With season 7 confirmed for seven episodes, that left season 8 having only six. However, recent reports suggest that may still change.

An article from TV Line quotes HBO programming president Casey Bloys saying, “The only thing we’re working out is how many episodes they [Weiss and Benioff] want to do. They’re still figuring it out because I think they’re trying to get a shape of the season.”

The statement answers questions on why the cabler hasn’t officially renewed the series for an eighth season yet. Once the showrunners decided on the number of episodes, Bloys relays that renewal is certain.
