Modern Family cast member Julie Bowen is taking some hit on social media after she poked fun of President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump. Learn the details here.
Although Bowen was not the only one who made comments on social media about President Trump’s inauguration, her posts garnered the most reaction. This is because she made fun of Barron’s conduct during the inauguration of the new US president last Friday.
In one of her several posts on Instagram, the 46-year-old actress commented on a photo of Barron while he is looking down at the floor during his father’s swearing-in ceremony. Bowen captioned it, “I think Barron is on his Gameboy. Can’t say I blame him.”
In another post, the Modern Family cast member commented on Barron’s pained expression and wrote, “a voting majority shares your horror.” In another shot in which an onscreen box is placed over the boy’s head, Bowen commented: “Hey @CNN! Don’t box the Barron!”
Another photo of Barron showed the boy rubbing his eye. The Emmy-winning actress captioned it, “When your dad is boppin’ his head to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. #dadshame.”
Fans’ Reaction on Modern Family Cast Julie Bowen’s Posts
Many think that Bowen’s action to mock a 10-year-old boy was inappropriate and unacceptable, Entertainment Tonight noted. One IG user wrote, “You should feel ashamed bashing a child.” Others called Bowen’s actions “disgraceful!” and “pathetic.”
Some people expressed that they will unfollow the star. Meanwhile, others argued that disliking Trump is not an excuse to bash a child.
“Boo! I used to like you and follow your Instagram! Unfollowing and not watching @abcmodernfam anymore.”
“Just because you don’t like his dad, don’t poke fun at the kid. I used to like you Julie. Grow up!”
Bowen replied to one of her critics on Twitter. She explained that she was not mocking the young Trump and she was just pointing out that Barron is just a kid. Bowen has not removed her posts from her Instagram account despite the backlash.
“@MyraLisa I love that Barron is a kid being a kid. My kids would be a horror show at a public event! Just trying to keep it light.”
