Miss Universe host Steve Harvey is in trouble once again over racism issue.
Harvey has received backlash on social media for his remarks about Asian men during his Steve Harvey Show on Friday. The video went viral after it was shared online this week.
During the show, Harvey shares a self-help book, titled How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men. According to the host, the book should have a single page with the question, “Excuse me, do you like Asian men?” and the response, “No. Thank you” on it.
Harvey added that if there is a similar book, like How to Date a Black Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men, it could be a one-page book too. “You like Asian men? I don’t even like Chinese food … I don’t eat what I can’t pronounce,” he said.
The comedian frequently paused to laugh as he made the comments. However, some didn’t see the humor in his remarks, Fox News noted. One YouTube user said, “Shame I’m Asian and I loved Steve Harvey but after seeing this video I can truly see what kind of person he really is.”
During the show’s Q&A segment, an Asian woman from the Philippines stood up and gave the host an advice on the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, Mashable reported. After a long pause and some laughter, Harvey looked at her and playfully said, “I’m sorry.”
The Family Feud host has yet to comment on the recent backlash on him.
Former Employee Filed Racism Case Against Steve Harvey
A former employee of Harvey filed a racism case against the host recently. Joseph Cooper revealed that he taped his former employer about two decades ago while making a racist statement on white people. The host is set to attend a case hearing on January 23.
The recent backlash against Harvey came as he is about to host the most prestigious beauty pageant once again. It can be recalled that he came under fire after he mistakenly announced the wrong winner during the finals of Miss Universe 2015.
Would his recent racist remarks affect his hosting gig in this year’s pageant? The event is set to host by an Asian country, Philippines.
