The winner of Miss Universe 2016 is none other than Miss France! The coronation night, which took place live at the SM MOA Arena in Pasay City, Manila was hosted by Steve Harvey.
Miss France gets to take home the crown after defeating 80 women representing their respective countries. The first runner-up is Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier and second runner-up is Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar.

Miss Colombia – Andrea Tovar.
Miss Philippines – Maxine Medina.
Miss Kenya – Mary Esther Were
Miss France – Iris Mittenaere.
Miss Haiti – Raquel Pelissier.
Miss Thailand – Chalita Suansane (Fan Vote Winner)
This year, the pageant had Top 13 contestants instead of Top 12. According to Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart, this was to give way for the fans’ voting, whose winner will secure a spot in the top 13.
Fans voted for Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane as their favorite, a Rappler report said.
Miss Universe 2016 Winner Miss France
The new Miss Universe 2016 is pursuing a course in dental surgery. According to Bustle, she will be an advocate of dental and oral hygiene. She is also a sports fanatic, a traveler, as well as a great cook.
Miss France will be bringing home the crown for the second time in France. The first one happened way back in 1953.
The final question, which was asked to the top three, was about the failures in their lives and their lessons learned from it. Miss France answered it with much poise and confidence. She said she has had many failures in life but one thing she learned from those painful moments was that she should get up and try again.
The Big Coronation Night
Thousands of fans flocked the venue to support their candidates. Most of them were rooting for the Philippines’ bet Maria Mika Maxine Medina, who was vying for a back-to-back win for the country. The contestant has been an early favorite among pageant experts, along with Miss Thailand, Miss Canada, Miss Venezuela, and Miss USA.
Prior to the pageant night, candidates travelled from different parts of the country to immerse into the Philippines culture. They went to Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Davao City, Cebu City, and Manila. They had their red carpet event last night at the same venue.
The winner will take on the crown from 2015 winner Pia Alonzo-Wurtzbach. The former title holder also looked back on her journey as Miss Universe at the competition prior to the announcement of top 13. Tune in here to for more updates about the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.
