The Marvel’s Inhumans cast is growing day by day. The latest addition to the Royal Family is Ken Leung. The Lost alum will play the role of Minister Karnak, Black Bolt’s cousin, and more importantly, trusted advisor.
Aside from his relation to king Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Karnak is also the strategist and philosopher for the royal family. News of Leung’s entry in the Marvel’s Inhumans cast comes right after news of Serinda Swan’s role as Medusa.
Another Complicated Character of the Marvel’s Inhumans
Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb spoke highly of Leung’s casting and reckons no one else could possibly match the wisdom and power the Lost alum brings to the role. Hence, showrunner Scott Buck is confident at Ken Leung’s ability to bring Karnak’s character to life. Buck said:
“Ken Leung has a great natural intelligence that reads clearly and will add depth and complexity to the very complicated character of Karnak.”
Karnak’s complicated nature likely stems from his special talent to find and exploit the weaknesses in anything, from people to things as well as plans, according to /Film. Hence, he plays the role of the master strategist for the royal family. To a certain extent, Karnak might bring to mind Batman but without the gadgets.
Aside from his mental prowess, Screen Rant reveals Karnak is also a skilled martial artist. Although he did not develop extra powers like the other members of the Royal Family since he never went through Terrigenesis. There is a strong chance the television series would adapt the personality and skill set of Karnak from the comic book.
Earlier spoilers about the Marvel’s Inhumans characters listed seven series regulars. If so, then it would suggest casting the roles of Triton, Crystal, and Gorgon could be next. Yet fans continue to wonder if the series will include Lockjaw whose name was left out earlier.
Why Ken Leung is Perfect as Karnak
The addition of Ken Leung to the Marvel’s Inhumans casting seems to bode well for the series. Indeed, his screen credentials are impressive. Moreover, he is no stranger to the comic book genre and massive cinematic universe.
Fans will remember him in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Leung appeared as Admiral Statura. In addition, he also appeared as the mutant Kid Omega in X-Men: The Last Stand.
