Hollywood is one star less bright as the news broke of Miguel Ferrer dead at 61. Celebrities expressed grief over the death of the actor.

The NCIS: Los Angeles star died on Thursday following a long bout with throat cancer. He was with close friends and family.

He is survived by Lori, his wife, Lukas and Rafi, his sons. Ferrer is the son of Oscar-winning actor Jose Ferrer and singer Rosemary Clooney.

Celebrities React to Miguel Ferrer Dead News

“Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer. But not lost to his family,” George Clooney said.

“Miguel made the world brighter and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day, (monumental events), pale in comparison. We love you Miguel. We always will,” Variety published the statement issued by Clooney on the death of his cousin.

Other celebrities who paid tribute to the actor include his co-star Brian Dietzen on NCIS: Los Angeles. He too expressed sadness at the news. Moreover, he described Ferrer as a wonderful man.

The actor played many notable characters on film and television. His latest role was on NCIS: Los Angeles as Assistant Director Owen Granger.

The recent episode of the TV series witnessed his character stabbed while in the custody of police. This was in connection with the current mole-hunt storyline of season 8, Deadline writes.

Recalling the Extensive Career of Miguel Ferrer

Miguel Ferrer began his extensive career with guest appearances in various television series. One of his most prominent roles was on Twin Peaks as Agent Albert Rosenfield. Fortunately, fans will get to see him in character one more time as TVLine reports he reprised his character in the upcoming Showtime revival.

His role as Bob Morton in the 1987 movie Robocop was another outstanding performance from the actor. Indeed, his portrayal of a ruthless corporate climber made its mark on audiences.

In addition to acting, Miguel Ferrer is also an accomplished musician. He played the drums and even got to tour with his mother and Bing Crosby. Moreover, he recorded with band The Who’s Keith Moon.
