Cloak and Dagger are the Marvel duo who will be featured in the upcoming TV series adaptation from Freeform next year. Meet the leads ahead and know more about where these two originally came from.

Entertainment Weekly initially reported that former Disney Channel actress Olivia Holt will play the role of Dagger whose real name is Tandy Bowen. On the other hand, The Night Of actor Aubrey Joseph is set to portray Cloak, aka Tyrone Johnson.

Joe Pokaksi will serve as the show’s executive producer and showrunner. He recently expressed his love for the earlier mentioned actors. Pokaksi even said, “When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leaped off the page. We are so excited to see what these talented young actors bring to the Marvel Universe.”

Ever since Pokaksi was a young boy, seeing Tandy and Tyrone in Marvel comic pages are the moments that had some impact to his life.

What to Expect in Cloak and Dagger

IGN reported that the series’ setting in New Orleans targets a younger audience. This duo was first known in the ’80s. As heroes on the street, they first worked alongside Spiderman before having a comic series of their own.

Eventually, as things were turned over to the duo, it resulted in an ongoing monthly title. Dagger and Cloak proved that they may be small players in the Marvel Universe but not insignificant ones.

After fighting against several villains, their heroism continued to protect the the homeless and helpless. Their battle was more real since they were involved with drug cases.  In conclusion, they have more realistic combat and relate-able motivation.

Where It All Started, Power and Abilities

The latter source reported that the said characters were first seen on Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64 (March 1982). Cloak and Dagger’s power and abilities resonate to their personas as dark and light.

Meanwhile, Dagger has the ability to feed Cloak’s hunger. She can help people who have struggles with addiction. Due to her dancing skills, she did not have a hard time learning how to fight.

While Dagger is a young talented woman, her partner can also do lots of things with the help of his cloak. One of his skills is traveling through dimensions.

More updates for the upcoming Freeform series Cloak and Dagger will be revealed once details are available.
