The This Is Us finale will not be all tears and tragedy. At least that is what lead actress Mandy Moore has assured to fans.

Moore (Rebecca Pearson) recently posted on Instagram a photo of the cast that somehow hinted a sad season finale. In the photo, the cast looks like they are dressed for a funeral.

This Is Us fans quickly commented that a death is looming in the season finale. The singer/actress then put the fans at ease by updating the caption of her photo. She wrote: “Good day at the office. Sad to say goodbye to these faces for the season. Too much fun. Too many laughs. #thisisus #thebackofanegg. ***Update- the photo is dark. No one is in black actually. Everyone breathe. We’re at Kevin’s play. Hence the hashtag.”

Moore is referring to her onscreen son Kevin Pearson’s (Justin Hartley) play, Back Of an Egg. It looks like the family will show their support to Kevin on his first stage performance in New York.

Why Fans Fear of a Tragic This Is Us Finale

The NBC hit drama is currently dealing with one demise and one inevitable death storylines. Viewers have already given some hints of Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) and William Hill’s (Ron Cephas Jones) deaths. However, fans are still hoping they will not see them passing away in the finale.

Rebecca’s husband demise was confirmed at the end of Three Sentences episode with a peek at his children soberly standing in his funeral. In the storyline, Jack had died in the mid-1990s although he is still shown in flashback scenes of the series.

Since episode 13, fans have been speculating on what may have caused Jack’s death. Some theorize that the Pearson’s patriarch’s death will be sudden and unexpected. Others think he died in a fire or from Alzheimer’s since he is inclined to forget things lately.

Meanwhile, William is battling Stage 4 stomach cancer in the present day. His biological son Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown) was previously shown packing up his father’s belongings and sobbing as he held on to his hat.

In an interview with Glamour, Brown refused to confirm if William’s death will happen this season or in the next season. He, however, said he knows when and how Jack dies.

Moreover, another reason that fans are concern that they might watch a funeral in the finale is Ventimiglia’s recent tweet. The actor teased on social media that the season 1 conclusion is going to be a total tear-jerker. He tweeted:

“Just read the season finale. Holy s*** hang onto your loved ones you’re gonna need a hug.”

Catch episode 14 on Tuesday (Feb. 7) at 9 P.M. on NBC. This Is Us finale is scheduled to air on March 7, 2017.
