Making a Murderer season 2 will return earlier than expected. Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland revealed details about the sequel.
According to reports, Netflix’s non-fiction documentary series is one of the most anticipated sequels of the network. Since its success, fans have been looking for spoilers and updates about season 2. Now, the VP herself confirms the regular filming basis for the murder case series.
Making a Murderer Season 2 Return Date
USA Today’s report noted that various websites have been speculating about the series’ possible return. With its high demand from viewers, this kind of reaction is not surprising at all. However, though Holland confirmed the return this 2017, the exact date is still unknown.
“The story is still ongoing, so you will see new episodes coming sometime this year as this story continues to unfold. We don’t know when for sure new episodes will be coming.
Making a Murderer Sequel Details
On a different note, Holland also teased what the show creators have been doing recently for the sequel. She revealed a few hints in an interview that both Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are working nonstop to complete the second season.
In addition, Holland also admitted that there are only a few Netflix people who know the details of their project. Hence, series details will likely remain under wraps until an official go signal reveals more. Teresa Halbach’s murder is an ongoing case and the information related to it requires sensitive treatment.
“Very few people inside of Netflix actually know the details of what we’re getting because we’re wanting to keep it really under wraps and it is an ongoing case so we’re trying to be sensitive to that.”
The second half of 2016 showed more developments to Steven Avery’s case. Among the significant breakthroughs include lawyer Kathleen Zellner’s motion requesting access to a number of evidence used against her client. With her motion granted, the listed evidence will be subject to advanced forensic testing in hopes of proving Avery’s innocence.
Meanwhile, TV Guide noted that the release appeal of Brendan Dassey, one of the suspects, will show both attorneys’ arguments this coming February 14. Meanwhile, District Attorney Ken Kratz will release his tell-all version this February 21.
Making a Murderer season 2 will return later this year. Episodes for the first season 1 remain available for streaming on Netflix.
