They may not be the most cheesy love team in the show but fans were definitely affected by the Tuckson break up in Law & Order: SVU season 18.
There will be no team Tuckson in the upcoming episodes. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Ed Tucker (Robert John Burke) broke up in the previous season after almost a year together.
The heartbreaking decision came after Tucker told Olivia about his plans to retire from the force in the previous episode. However, Olivia found herself more committed to her job after investigating cases involving a former cop and a missing 6-year-old.
Benson told Tucker that her son, Noah, is another reason why she had to break things off with him. Fans cried and mourn when the two delivered their goodbyes and Tucker walked out of the door.

@chrisharnick hate them ending. A woman in 2017 can be successful at her job, be a kick ass mom AND have a significant other in their lives

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Julie Martin admitted that it was a tough story to tell.
“It was a very difficult decision to break up Benson and Tucker. We all love Bobby Burke so much, and we loved the dynamic between him and Mariska. Mariska was involved in the discussions. It was difficult for her as well, because she loves acting with Bobby Burke and loved the storyline.”
What’s Next For Olivia in Law & Order: SVU Season 18
Olivia had previous relationships before Tucker. She got involved with David Haden (Harry Connick Jr.) in season 13. In seasons 14 and 15, Olivia lived with Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters).
When asked about the future of Olivia when it comes to the matters of the heart, Martin teased the SVU chief will continue to find ways to balance her work and her personal life. Is there another love interest coming in Olivia’s way this season? The show’s current season is not even half-way through.
“It’s always been a journey for Olivia, to continue to grow and find meaning and happiness, and that journey isn’t over yet. Olivia will continue to try and find balance between being a mother and being an SVU lieutenant,” she said. Martin is one of the writers of the previous episode.
